Message from President Cooks Celebrating Women's History Month

"Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.
It shouldn’t be that women are the exception."
- Ruth Bader Ginsburg

While March is in full swing, I want to make sure we reflect and honor Women’s History Month. I am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by powerful women. Whether they are faculty, classified professionals or administrators, women contribute to the growth and vitality of Chabot College.

Our college fosters an environment where women are supported and celebrated. I want to highlight a couple of our student organizations that help women thrive and succeed at Chabot and beyond. Latinas United ‘N Academics (LUNA), for example, promotes sisterhood for Latina students through professional resources, leadership opportunities, events and workshops.

My Sister’s Keeper (MSK), is a leadership development and support group for young African-American queens. MSK empowers and encourages Black women to recognize their individual and unique differences while appreciating commonalities that create lifelong bonds.

I am truly inspired by the contributions these groups bring to our college, and by the many other student resources on campus that support women. I hope you join me in celebrating Women’s History Month and show your support by using the Women's History Month Zoom background.

President's Welcome

Welcome to Chabot College! For over 60 years, Chabot has helped students meet their academic, social, and employment dreams, goals and aspirations.

I am honored to start my presidency as Chabot’s 10th College President. I am humbled to lead our prestigious institution and excited about the tremendous potential in our programs and services as we aspire to be the best community college in the state.

Chabot College will start this academic year with a number of established and exciting new programs and resources such as our outstanding HSI STEM grant that promotes a STEM Summer Bridge program, offers embedded tutoring, work-based learning, and comprehensive student services, and encourages completion/transfer to STEM majors at 4-year universities. We are also developing a basic needs student success center, referred to as THE HUB, which will house our food pantry, student direct aid, community resources, CAL Fresh Food assistance, and school supplies. Moreover, our academic offerings have expanded by increasing the number of online classes, non-credit, and dual enrollment offerings.

We are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and social justice as we provide an encouraging, inspiring, safe, and nurturing learning environment. Chabot College is intentional in our culture of care for keeping students first.  Our Classified Professionals, Faculty, and Administrators are all here to serve you and your educational journey.  We look forward to our time together and opening up your possibilities for a fantastic college experience!
